After a critically-acclaimed world premiere, David McAllister’s production of “The Sleeping Beauty” will premiere in Brisbane this February 2017.
Following sold-out seasons across the country, it’s time again to be swept into a world of fairies, bluebirds, nymphs and roses in this enchanting fairy tale ballet. Be engrossed by the lavish sets and costume designed by Gabriela Tylesova who stunning designs brings the essence of the fairy tale to life.
The story of “The Sleeping Beauty” begins when Princess Aurora is cursed by an angry fairy named Carabosse during her christening. The curse says that on Aurora’s 16th birthday, she will fall asleep in a cursed slumber and will only be awoken by true love’s kiss.
The ballet is set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score and is filled with charm. “The Sleeping Beauty” will definitely win your heart! This production is presented by The Australian Ballet in association with QPAC.
The tour dates are from 24-27 February 2017. It will be held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
The Eighth Blackbird is a classical experience with a modern twist. It celebrates the joy of the new with its classical music fused with rock. The LA Times describes the group as “super musicians” and applauds their work as living composers who are virtuosos filled with love for their art.
The tour showcases them playing contemporary gems by Muhly, Dessner, Hearne and Andres. This is alongside a world premiere by Sydney composer Holly Harrison.
The Eighth Blackbird show is on 7 March 2017 at the Queensland Conservatorium Theatre, Griffith University.
